I just got a new dell computer, and downloaded a good free antivirus software that I know of, but am having trouble picking between which one to buy! Any suggestions?

  1. I really like Norton after trying dozens of antivirus/firewall softwares. Easy to use, GREAT customer support, constant updates and not annoying at all with the popups. Very nice user interface as well. I tried infecting my computer purposely hundreds of times and failed. Even sites that attempted to penetrate the firewall failed as well. I currently use Norton Internet Security, better than their “Antivirus” suite, and does most of the things the “360″ suite does, for $10 less, and it’s all the protection I need.

  2. i’m using avast home edition . The new version has been released on their website. It s a freeware. You can register yourself on the avast website to recive the registration key . They provide timely updates (small in size, ie. In kb’s. Which s usefull for people with limited internet plans ). It s fully legal n it generates a virus recovery database to report avast about the new viruses .
To detect n delete malwares on your comp use malware bytes . Another free software . N a powerfull tool to clean your comp of malwares. I use these softwares myself .http://best-free-antivirus-software.blog…

  3. Wow.
You have opened a whole big can of worms here.
    Everyone has his/her own opinion.
    For me……
    Avast for freeware.
    Kaspersky for paid-ware.
But keeping your new machine and its software updated i even more important. Ya gotta plug the holes BEFORE the vermin gets in:http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scannin…
    Enjoy that new Dell!

  4. It really depends on what operating system you have. So it is better to try the free ones available and choose the one that suits you best. Free edition is good and enough for homes,if you need it for an office, buy it. Check out http://usefulinfo-comp.blogspot.com/ for more information.

  5. Only single antivirus cannot help u out in tough situations ,
You need a combination of softwares to help protect ur PC .
Here is the combination that I use
Avast antivirus > Malwarebytes > Super Antispyware > Comodo Firewall .
u can use AVG or Avira FREE in place of Avast , thats ur choice
As Far as avast is concerned , u need to register for free , give them ur email address and they will send u a free licence key for avast (i.e. for 1 year ) and u are entitled to use the software for 1 year !
U can get the above on following addresses –
    Avast – http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-…
    AVG – http://www.free.avg.com/
    Avira – http://www.free-av.com/
    Malwarebytes – http://www.malwarebytes.org/
    SuperAntispyware – http://www.superantispyware.com/download…
Any one of the following Firewalls -
    Comodo Firewall – http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
    Zone Alarm Free Firewallhttp://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/…
These apps work in combo to protect ur PC , and provide rock solid protection against viruses ,and all are free !
    Good Luck

Remember to always keep your antivirus and anti-spyware applications up to date and fully functional.
Feel free to check out the free trial version of Kaspersky here:

  8. What ever you decide on. do this.. use free malwarebytes’ antimalware and superantispyware once a week… not a one is 100% percent detection rate,, you need to do these two programs.. btw… avg free has no root kit protection… check out free avira or avast..

  9. Download and Install Avast Home Edition (Free Anti-virus)http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-…

  10. avira slow and bulky? lol you must be thinking of norton.
avira only runs 3 processes in task manager and they are extremely low on resources

  11. Avast Home version together with Threatfire should be good enough for the average user. Norton is a hog and is expensive if you want it’s best suite.

  12. Avira Antivirus.
